What are your favorite sites for translating a word or phrase?
My favorite is www.wordreference.com. You have to enter a single word to start off. Say you want to translate "at the same time." You can enter either "same" or "time." I did it tonight with "same". I looked through the definitions/translations for the phrase I wanted, but didn't see it. So I looked at the bottom section where site users had written for help. There were several entries for "at the same time." I selected one where a person asked for the Spanish translation of this phrase. One native speaker had written an answer and a couple others added their ideas. Sometimes users provide different answers for different countries as the language does vary from one country to another. You can look for the English to Spanish or Spanish to English (other languages, too). It also includes an English-English dictionary and a Spanish-Spanish dictionary.
I like http://www.wordnik.com/ It's only English, not bilingaul. Actually more for advanced learners or teachers. It has usage examples from literature and Twitter so we can see the word in real modern use. It has audio, and you can add additonal pronunciation files so you get different accents. The definaition of course, entomology, photos from flickr, and a little graph showing frequency over history.
