Nellie passed along to me today a link to another free Moodle hosting site: Key to School.

The first thing I checked was the functionality of the grading system, which Ninehub scaled back about a year ago. We'll see how this site measures up.

The change that did it for me was removing some of the grade book functionality. If memory serves, they took out the option of weighting grades...or something like that. It was something I was using before and then later was taken away. Also, the long periods of updating was a pain since at times interfered with my f2f activities.

I´m now using Moodle on our university server, giving up some of the administrative rights for functionality.

I am not so happy that they recently added image Google ads .. they are distracting, I didn't mind the text ads ... but oh well. I still find that I have more control (Admin authorization) with Ninehub that I don't have with other free Moodles that I am using (where I have Content Creator/Teacher authority only).

I almost deleted my Ninehub Moodle at one point because it was down for weeks it seemed (and that is uber-frustrating). But they are up and running again .. and I am hoping with more stability, especially now since they have added another product, Joomla ... and soon phpBB forums (much better than Ning forums).

Which functionality did they remove Benjamin? I am not a power user yet so that must have eluded me.

Is Ninehub getting any better to work with? When I first joined, they had a full-functioning version of Moodle available for free. Later, they restricted the functionality for free accounts and there continued to be significant periods of downtime. How is it currently working out?

I am gonna dedicate this weekend to playing with Moodle ... got a fake TKT course started at Ninehub ... apparently they have like 35,000 courses there now and will shut down for a few days of Maintenance next week.
