I wrote and gave this calavera to my Advanced English students at Tec de Monterey.

ALTAR FOR AN ENGLISH STUDENT

Diego, Juan Carlos, Bruno, and Jose
Together had a mass funeral
For they touched the teacher’s Mac Apple
During class time they were sleeping
Getting eerily closer to their graves
Laughing, fighting, talking & cheating


Sadly they only lived to see the 3rd partial
While playing computer games with bony fingers
Good news is that memory of them never lingers
Listening, reading, grammar and written structure
With English they just couldn’t be artful
So corpses happily sent to TecBreak butcher


Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Students beg for a free class
When teacher says $%&”?* NO, all they do is sass
Get those blogs done don’t forget your poster
Sure, you’ll get your free class … on Saturday
Or be marked absent on the roster

Poor students are now dead and forgotten
As teacher focuses on more important endeavors
Like teaching English to a classroom of cadavers
No more fires, magic tricks, undone homework tasks
Nor grades of fifteen 6’s, twelve 7’s and one 10
With smells of rotting flesh, their class website still lasts
